Home Music Videos is a series of self-recorded at-home video performances set mostly to other people’s music and made in my parents’ basement as well as my apartment, dance studios, and empty rooms in Brooklyn, NY. Conceived as a musical version of the home movie, I used songs to soundtrack humorous dances that explored childhood fantasy, sexuality, multiplicity, desire, shame, and gender presentation through pop star tropes and costume. Through the process I gained an understanding of how to perform for the camera, create narrative storytelling in video, and frame and edit movies.
